5.1 Stockholm in 24 hours

http://beta.stockholmtown.com/en/To-Do/Tips/Stockholm-in-24-hours/

Only spending one day in Stockholm? Here are the essentials!

We recommend visiting Stockholms Stadshus (Stockholm City Hall), where the Nobel Banquet is held every year. From City Hall tower you also have a wonderful view over the entire city. If you’d rather skip climbing the tower, you can choose the view from Fjällgatan on Södermalm instead.

And don’t miss Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s oldest attraction and one of the best preserved medieval city centers in the world. Walk through the small winding streets lined with stores full of handicrafts, antiques and art galleries, and stop at a cozy café. The Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral (where the royal wedding was held in the summer of 2010) are also located in Gamla Stan.

Naturally a city built on fourteen islands offers marvelous views over the water. Hop on a sightseeing boat and experience the beauty of the city from the water.

And don’t miss the most visited museum in Scandinavia, the Vasa Museum on the green island of Djurgården. The warship Vasa sank on its maiden voyage in central Stockholm in the seventeenth century. It’s a unique and marvelous experience for older and younger visitors alike.

6.3 Patin a glace

http://beta.stockholmtown.com/en/To-Do/Tips/Ice-skating/

The waterways of Stockholm don’t freeze over very often. But when they do, skating on natural ice is an exhilarating experience—and something that Stockholmers wouldn’t miss for the world.

Long-distance skating on natural ice requires a certain amount of knowledge and safety equipment. An alternative is the ice rink in Kungsträdgården in the city center, or one of Stockholm’s many exercise trails. Vasaparken has a large artificial ice rink, and there are ice-skating rinks at Zinkensdamm, Östermalm och Eriksdal sports stadiums.

If you want to try skating on a frozen lake, Trekanten by Liljeholmen station or Norrviken in Sollentuna have ploughed skating tracks. For a safe and memorable experience, however, tourists should join a guided group. Contact the Stockholm Tourist Centre for more information about guided tours. The contact details are listed further down the page.
